| IMMANUEL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH 1967 - 2007 |

- Pastor Warren Widmann and his wife, Carol, took up residence at 735 Captiol St. NE, in Salem, and he began his work here in June 1, 1966. He found there were six Wisconsin Synod families in Salem and one in Corvallis, Oregon who were interesed in starting a mission.

- They found a suitable place to worship at the Salem Heights Community Hall at Madrona and Liberty Streets. This group of believers chose as the name of their congregation, Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church. The name Immanuel means "God with us". With 26 people in attendance, the first service was held on July 24, 1966.

- In September of 1966, Sunday School and Instruction classes began. There was one boy in the 7th grade in the children's class and one man in the adult class.

- In February 1967, a piece of land at Idylwood and Jones Road was purchased. Also in February 1967 a committee was formed to draw up a constitution for the new congregation.

- In June of 1967 a Vacation Bible School was held with twenty children, many of whom were mission children.

|
- On August 9-16, 1967, Immanuel was formally accepted as a congregation of the Wisconsin Synod at the national convention in Saginaw, Michigan.

- In October, 1967 Pastor Widmann preached his farewell sermon and moved to Renton, WA., to do mission work there. In the summer of 1968 Pastor William Bernhardt was assigned to Immanuel upon graduating from the Seminary. Pastor Bernhardt was ordained and installed on July 14, 1968.

- September 1971, the congregation held the groundbreaking service to begin construction on the church building. The building was completed and the dedication service held on July 2, 1972.
- Shortly there after, construction began on what would be the first parsonage on land east of the church on Idylwood Drive. The home was completed in 1974 and remained Immanuel's parsonage until 1987.
- During the summer of 1990, the congregation decided to build a new parsonage on church property with the home located just behind the church. The home was finished in January 1991.

- November 1976 Pastor Bernhardt accepted a call to Divine Peace in Milwaukee, WI.
- April, 1977 Pastor Errol Carlson was installed as Immanuel's next pastor.
- June 21, 1981 Pastor Jack Kilcrease II was installed.
- July 30, 1989 Pastor Daniel Leyrer was ordained and installed.
- July 26, 1993 Pastor Craig Wasser was ordained and installed.

- In September of 1996 Immanuel began an extensive planning project that would shape and direct the future of this young church. On a rainy morning in November 1998, Immanuel held a Ground Breaking Service for their new Educational Wind and Fellowship Hall. The completion of the Education Wind brought great changes to Immanuel.
- In June 2001, Immanuel received word Dr. George LaGrow would serve as the critical function of guiding the congregation through the structure and strategies phase of the Forward With Lutheran Schools process.
- January 2002 brought the news that Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church would open a Christian Elementary School that fall.
- 2002 - 2007 Immanuel Ev. Lutheran School continues to feed the little lambs in the community.
